Sweet Favor Idea!
We covered the beautiful wedding of Sarah & Jason on May 20, 2006. They had great colors, details and personal touches everywhere you looked. Sarah & Jason had a great favor idea that I thought many of you would love. I’ve included photos too!
Sarah & Jason’s Sweets Table
Jason & Sarah had a “Sweets Table” for their favors. They had a colorful & yummy display of sweets for guests to treat them selves to. They had 7 canisters filled with assorted candies (one with pretzels) scoops and plastic candy bags adorned with “Thank You” stickers. Each guests got to fill their bags with their favorite candy. This was a big hit for everyone, not just the children!
Attention to Detail
They added a sign with a cute message thanking their guests.
They added details with pink and green labels on the canisters with the name of the candy, attached with a brown bow (pink, brown and green were their colors). All the candy was in their wedding colors. One canister had pink, green and brown M&Ms and the stickers on the candy bags were in their wedding colors too. All this was on a table with a green runner and brown under-lay table cloth. All the colors came together beautifully and the interactive favors weren’t just delicious, but a lot of fun!
Creative Twists
Not that their idea needs any improvement; I just can’t help thinking of possible twists you could do:
- Choose sentimental/favorite candies. For each type of candy, label the container with a note explaining why you chose it. For example: “Hershey Kisses: First candy Mark bought Rebecca.”
- Make all your sweets a version of your favorite sweet indulgence! Do you both love cookies or cupcakes the most? You could provide a pretty spread with decorated cupcakes (incorporating your colors and/or theme). You could provide pretty pastry boxes for guests to take home a favorite treat or two. I’ve seen little Chinese food containers at craft stores like Michael’s that would be cute and practical for these types of sweets.
- Are you both chocolate lovers? Do an all chocolate spread. Yummy! How about a bunch of fudge, truffles, or chocolate dipped goodies. Again a pastry box or bag would be a great container for your guests to keep their choice of treats.
Benefits of a Sweets Table
- You can go all out while keeping your total cost down! Depending on your choice of sweets, you can purchase a large quantity for a fraction of the price of other favor ideas. If you get all wrapped candies, you won’t need to provide scoops or tongs.
- It’s fun for your guests. It will draw guests out of their seats and encourage mingling. And with a boost of sugar in their system you might just get extra bodies on the dance floor.
- It’s a great way to incorporate your colors and/or theme. For example: if you’re having a beach theme there are a lot of gummy candies with ocean themes.
- It’s easy to put together. You don’t have to be crafty or spend hours tying bows or hot gluing anything.
- Sweets are a guaranteed loved favor. Even men will love this favor idea. So often guests won’t keep trinkets or frilly things, but they will eat the sweets.

Hi Shana,
How is your wedding planning coming along? Your friend’s ice cream bar sounds like a lot of fun & quite yummy! (I’ve always liked ice cream, but being 6 months pregnant I am nearly in love with it!!!) I love unique ideas, especially the ones people can enjoy & get involved with.
And, I love, that you love this site…
