You may not be planning your wedding last minute, but still have to book some vendors only months before your wedding. As a vendor and a former bride who did some last-minute negotiations, I will get right to the point and make it worth your time. (more…)

Money Saving Tips

Monday, May 22nd, 2006

No matter what your wedding budget is, I’m sure you want the best for the least amount of money. But finding good deals, and money saving tips isn’t as easy as you might want. I remember skimming each “how to have a great wedding on a shoestring budget” book I could find—only to be disappointed by what I found. The tips were often just too common sense, impossible for me to do (like making all the dresses) or too compromising (like suggesting that we skip a reception to save money). (more…)

Delegate! Delegate! Delegate!

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

In real-estate they say, “Location! Location! Location!” and with weddings I say, “Delegate! Delegate! Delegate!”. Don’t make the mistake I made and neglect to delegate jobs/responsibilities. You need someone to be your assistant or coordinator. Though your wedding day is likely to be a bit stressful no matter what, having someone who understands your vision for the day and knows all the “who’s, what’s, when’s, where’s, why’s and how’s” will help keep stress at bay and allow the two of you to joyfully just be the bride and groom. Sample Timelines

Friday, May 12th, 2006

As a followup to yesterday’s discussion on The Importance of Wedding Day Timelines, I’ve put together 3 different sample timelines to give you an idea how one might look. They focus a lot on photography for a few reasons: couples rarely plan adequate time for the amount and type of photography they want; couples can see how many hours they may need their photographer for; and we’re photographers, so it’s always on my mind! Next week I’ll talk more about how much time to allot for various activities and events. (more…)
